The AI Readiness Check Before You Spend on AI
Before any AI vendor conversation, check whether you have a named decision and clean data behind it, not just enthusiasm for the idea.
Every few months something arrives that is said to change everything. Some of it does. Most of it changes one workflow for one kind of business, and the useful question is which.
This hub covers new technology through a single lens: what changes for a business that has to run tomorrow morning. Not the capability in a demo — the capability after it meets a supervisor who has done the job one way for eleven years, a network that drops out in the afternoon, and data that was never structured for the purpose.
Posts here carry a date and an "as of" note, because a trend post without one is worse than no post. They end with what to do about it, which is sometimes "nothing yet, and here is what would have to be true for that to change".
We are not neutral about this: most businesses reaching for AI have not yet written down how a decision gets made today, and a model cannot learn a process that was never defined. But some of these tools genuinely remove work that no person should be doing, and those cases deserve to be named specifically rather than hedged.
Before any AI vendor conversation, check whether you have a named decision and clean data behind it, not just enthusiasm for the idea.
